"Does my ultrasound machine
need routine service ?"
Your ultrasound machine is a
complex and sophisticated piece of electronics !
Consider the following
facts:
Ultrasound units
incorporate cooling fans that circulate air to cool
their electronics. Since most scanning is done in
clinics or barns, dust and dirt can be deposited on the
circuit boards. This coating of dust reduces air
circulation and can cause the electronics to over heat.
Since many practitioners work in damp
environments, the above dust can turn to mud and cause
the electronics to short out causing intermittent
failures.
Due to the temperature extremes that
practitioners work in, the internal Ni-cad batteries can
leak with age and cause damage to the computer board.
Electronic components can change over
time. A routine calibration will optimize your unit's
performance and improve your image quality.
